A Victoria Dock-based nursery is trying to beat last year's fundraising total with a Pudsey Bear themed activity day on Friday.
Little Learners nursery, owned by Sewell Group, has organised a day of fundraising with each of the children bringing a bear to take part in a Pudsey Picnic at teatime, staff dressing up in sleep suits so they look like teddy bears and even a sponsored teddy bear conga!
The nursery hope to take the conga line out around the pedestrian areas of Victoria Dock, weather allowing, however if this is rained off the conga will march round the nursery.
After working up an appetite with the sponsored conga the nursery will sit down for a teddy bears picnic, for which each of the children have been invited to bring their own teddy in to sit down for tea at the nursery.
Nursery staff are determined to better last year's fundraising total of £500 and staff and children alike have been gathering sponsors for Friday's Children in Need fun and fundraising day at the nursery.
Rachel Gouldson, nursery manager, said: "Everyone at Little Learners loves getting involved in big charity events like this and Children in Need is not only something that we can make a bit fun but it's something that's close to our hearts.
"We're really hoping that with a fun and creative idea to bring in donations this year we can top our total from last year and present Children in Need with an even bigger total."
Rachel Corr, head of HR and brand at Sewell Group, said: "We're really proud that Little Learners is taking part in Children in Need once again. Rachel Gouldson and the team at the nursery always have some fantastic ideas to make the day fun for the children, whilst raising a fantastic donation for Children in Need.
"We wish the team luck during their day and hope that they manage to achieve their fundraising target!"
